Sustainable Development Policy
The Board of Ferrowest Limited has adopted the following policy to govern the activities of the Company and to ensure we improve the triple bottom line of the Company in recognition of the interdependence of financial returns, the environment and social benefits.
Our Values for Sustainable Development are:
- Conduct all Company operations in an efficient, effective and financially sustainable way.
- Optimise eco-efficiency by focusing on the efficiency of inputs and energy consumption and, where practicable, maximising reuse, recovery and recycling of any waste.
- Provide a safe, healthy and rewarding work environment for our people.
- Respect, communicate and work with the people and communities in which our business operates.
- Conduct all business in accordance with the Company’s standing policies with particular emphasis on the Ferrowest Ethics Policy.
- Engage all stakeholders in meaningful dialogue and endeavour to support their own sustainable development initiatives where practicable.
- Be willing to learn and consider new sustainable development knowledge and share the collective sustainable development knowledge of Ferrowest with our suppliers, stakeholders and customers.
- Apply the following environmental protection rules:
- Conduct careful evaluation of all new activities and assess the risk weighted consequences of different options.
- Plan all new activities for the benefit of present and future generations.
- Biodiversity and ecological integrity should be maintained.
- Take account of the environmental impact for the full product lifecycle when pricing and evaluating new activities.
- Minimise waste and maximise efficiency and effectiveness in all new activities
